KUCHING: A total of 34 schools in Lundu – 31 primary and three secondary – have been temporarily closed from today (Sept 24) after air quality in the district deteriorated.
The Sarawak Education Department said the closure took effect immediately based on Air Pollutant Index readings recorded at 8 am, with teaching and learning to continue through PdPR.
Schools near areas recording API levels above 200 may also consider home-based learning, while reopening preparations can begin once readings fall below that threshold.
The department also advised schools to continue monitoring API readings through APIMS and follow Health Ministry recommendations to safeguard students and staff.
Stay safe, wear a mask outdoors and limit strenuous outdoor activities while air quality remains poor.
