SIBU: The Road Transport Department (RTD) Sibu Branch Operations Unit has implemented the Commercial Vehicle and Daily Ops through patrol and enforcement monitoring around the town as well as static enforcement on Jalan Tun Abang Haji Openg.
Throughout the operations recently, a total of 349 vehicles consisting of commercial and private vehicles were inspected.
In a statement today, the department said during the operations, various offences were detected, including drivers not possessing vocational driving license, not having valid driving license, not wearing seat belts and other offences involving technical aspects of the vehicle.
In addition, a vehicle was also seized for having expired road tax and no insurance coverage.
“Sarawak RTD will continue to intensify enforcement activities from time to time to ensure that the safety of road users is always guaranteed and to increase the level of compliance with the law among road users,” the statement added.
