KUCHING: The Sarawak Hornbill Team Cup 2024 (SHTC24) is scheduled to take place at Megalanes, Batu Kawa here, from March 4 to 9, featuring 35 teams from various states, including Selangor, Kuala Lumpur, Kedah, Pahang, Negeri Sembilan, Johor, Sabah, and host Sarawak.
Jakarta, Indonesia’s team, will also be participating in this six-day championship.
Sarawak Amateur Tenpin Bowling Association (ABAS) vice-president Robert Lu Nam Min said the championship offers a total cash prize of RM70,000, with various categories contested throughout the competition.
“The defending champion, Sunway Megalanes, will also participate in this competition,” he confirmed at the press conference held at the Pandelela Aquatic Centre, Petra Jaya on Tuesday (Feb 20).
He added that this third edition of the championship is more aligned with the Sukma Preliminaries, as teams will feature young players gearing up for the 21st Malaysia Games (Sukma) in Sarawak in 2024.
Organised by ABAS in collaboration with SSC, the press conference was attended by Morshidi Fredrick, permanent secretary of the Ministry of Youth, Sport and Entrepreneur Development; Awang Putrayusrie Awang Redzuan, chief executive officer of the Sarawak Sports Corporation (SSC); Sunny Si Poh Heng, president of ABAS; and Saifulbahri Shukri, vice-president of ABAS.
