KUCHING: A total of 350 recipients from nine zones in the Samariang area received food contributions through the Asyura “Sedekah Ramadan” Programme held at Dewan KASBA today.
The programme was organised by the Women’s Wing of Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) of Samariang constituency, in collaboration with JKKK KASBA, the Sarawak Single Mothers Association (PITSA) Samariang branch, Dewanita DUBS, and the Kuching Welfare and Disaster Aid Organisation (PKBK).
The event was officiated by Deputy Minister in the Sarawak Premier’s Department (Law, MA63 and State-Federal Relations) who is also Samariang assemblywoman, Datuk Sharifah Hasidah Sayeed Aman Ghazali.
“The distribution of ‘nasi briyani’ and ‘bubur asyura’ is part of the effort to share blessings during the holy month of Ramadan,” she said.
The contributions were distributed to beneficiaries across nine zones, with five representatives from each zone.
“This programme aimed to strengthen community ties while encouraging the spirit of charity and compassion during Ramadan,” she added.
She also expressed hope that the programme would continue to inspire more community-driven welfare initiatives in the future.
