MIRI: A total of 3,598 cases involving community needs have been managed by the Pujut service centre over the past five years, covering welfare assistance, medical support, education and basic infrastructure issues.

Pujut assemblyman Adam Yii Siew Sang said the figures reflect the continuous commitment of the service centre and its team to ensuring that every resident’s need receives proper attention and appropriate action.

“Our service centre has handled 3,598 service cases, covering welfare assistance, medical aid, educational support, water and electricity supply matters, as well as complaints regarding drainage and roads,” he said.

He said this when speaking at the Pujut Mid-Autumn Festival programme here last night (Sept 26).

Yii, who is also Miri City mayor, said, in addition to managing service cases, a total of 337 damaged homes were repaired, benefiting 1,340 residents, while educational assistance was channelled to 351 students to help ease their families’ financial burdens.

“56 school improvement projects were implemented, while 14 community park projects as well as 59 public halls, community facilities, and house of worship projects were carried out to enhance the comfort of residents,” he said.

He added that 3,115 streetlights were installed in the area, helping save up to 50 per cent in electricity costs while enhancing public safety at night.

“Every figure and achievement reflects our commitment and responsibility to the community, with ongoing efforts to make Miri—and particularly the Pujut constituency—a more comfortable, safe, and harmonious place to live.”
