384 students receive Yayasan S’wak School Uniform Vouchers

KUCHING: A total of 384 students from seven schools here received the Yayasan Sarawak School Uniform Vouchers at Yayasan Sarawak here, yesterday. They were part of the 19,822 students throughout the state

According to Yayasan Sarawak director Azmi Bujang, the voucher programme was started in 2000 entrusted by state government for Yayasan Sarawak to implement the supply of school uniforms including bags and shoes to students throughout the state.

“This year, the annual allocation has been increased by the state government from RM2 million to RM4 million with voucher worth RM200 per person,” he said in his speech during the handing over of Yayasan Sarawak School Uniform Vouchers at Yayasan Sarawak here, yesterday.

Every year almost 20,000 students benefit from this programme, he pointed out.

“This year19,822 students from primary and secondary schools in Sarawak benefit from the programme; they comprise 3919 disabled students (OKU) and 15,903 other students.

“We have issued the vouchers to the Resident’s Offices, district offices and also District Education offices (PPD) to distribute them to the students, “ he added.

Azmi said the seven schools referred here are namely Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Datuk Patinggi Haji Gapor, Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Demak Baru, Sekolah Kebangsaan Astana, Sekolah Kebangsaan Rampangi, Sekolah Kebangsaan Buntal, Sekolah Kebangsaan Gita No.2 and Sekolah Kebangsaan Semerah Padi also received grants for the school activites.

Present to hand over the vouchers was Chief Minister’s wife Datin Amar Dato Juma’ani Tun Tuanku Bujang.
