KUCHING: A total of 136 athletes from 28 countries are competing in the 40th Premier Sarawak Cup International Tennis Federation (ITF) World Tennis Tour Juniors J300.

Youth, Sports, and Entrepreneur Development Minister Datuk Seri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah said that the event starts from April 22 to 28.

“With live scoring and streaming provided by the Sarawak Lawn Tennis Association (SLTA), the world can witness the matches and boost Kuching’s visibility through increased social media exposure,” he told press conference at the Baitulmakmur Building II today (Apr 22).

He reflected on a vibrant month for local tennis, noting that the Sarawak Cup caps a series of four international tournaments held back-to-back since March 15.

These events started with the ITF World Team Junior Competition U14, involving participants from 28 countries, and concluded with the ITF Asian Under 14 Development Final, which saw 22 countries compete.

Abdul Karim also acknowledged the financial support of ITF and the Asian Tennis Federation (ATF), which provided a RM600,000 grant to support these events.
