KUCHING: A total of 412 students of SK Rakyat, Jalan Haji Bolhassan participated in the school Merdeka Parade in conjunction with the celebration of the 61st National Day here yesterday.
The parade started from their school around 8am which saw students and teachers of SK Rakyat carrying the Jalur Gemilang and state flags while walking and cycling around the school and surrounding areas. The students comprised Preschool, Year One to Year Six pupils wearing national costumes during the parade.
The parade was their highlight event for the National Day month celebration at the school-level that started since 10 August 2018 and ended yesterday with theme of Sayangi Malaysiaku.
The school’s National Day celebration was held to achieve the objective to nurture and inspire the spirit of patriotism among school children, trigger and spark the feeling, atmosphere and spirit of independence and to create awareness and teamwork to foster unity at all levels.
