LUBOK ANTU: A landslide affected 43 residents of Rumah Unsa Skandis Kesit, a longhouse in Lemanak, on Wednesday night.
The land slipped around 7pm behind the 14-door longhouse due to heavy rain.
Sri Aman Fire and Rescue chief Ramlan Marajan said the kitchen areas of units 17, 18 and 19 of the longhouse were hit.
“The rest of the living units were flooded and the drainage system behind the longhouse was blocked by the earth from the hill,” he said.
He also explained that a team from the Betong fire station was despatched to the scene to survey the situation and to be on standby should anything else happen.
When questioned, the residents claimed that the heavy rain started at 6pm — an hour before the landslide occurred.
