BAU: Police issued 43 traffic summonses and arrested a man during Op Bersepadu at several locations in the district on Saturday evening.
Bau district police chief Supt Mohd Haide A Rahman said the operation ran from 5pm to 10pm and was led by the Bau District Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department in collaboration with other departments.
A total of 22 police officers and personnel were deployed for the five-hour operation.
“The operation focused on Jalan Bau-Kuching Lama, Jalan Fairy Cave and Jalan Bau-Batu Kawa, targeting crime prevention, conducting patrols, snap checks and traffic enforcement to enhance road safety.
“From this, 118 individuals were inspected, including 105 vehicles comprising 45 cars, 40 motorcycles, 15 four-wheel drives and five lorries,” he said.
Of the 43 traffic summonses issued, 30 were issued to motorcyclists, 11 to car drivers, one to a four-wheel-drive driver and one to a lorry driver.
Mohd Haide also said a local man was arrested after he tested positive in an initial urine screening test.
The suspect was being investigated under Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.
He added that enforcement efforts and checks would be continuously intensified to ensure road users adhered to traffic laws, while urging the public to channel information on suspicious activities to the authorities.
