KUCHING: Forty-five foreign nationals were arrested in an early morning Immigration Department operation at two construction sites here today.
The group, comprising 39 men and six women aged between 21 and 50, were detained for various immigration offences.
The department said several individuals attempted to flee during the operation by climbing unfinished building structures and breaking through zinc fences.
However, all attempts failed as enforcement personnel had surrounded the areas.
They are being investigated for offences including not possessing valid travel documents, misuse of passes and overstaying.
All detainees were taken to the immigration depot for further action.
