KOTA SAMARAHAN: A total of 453 out of 660 projects have been successfully implemented under the Samarahan Integrated Regional Development Agency (IRSDA) as of the first quarter of 2025.
Chairman of the IRSDA Steering Committee and Minister of Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts, Datuk Seri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah, said that in addition to that, 46 projects are still in the implementation phase.
Meanwhile, 134 other projects are currently in the planning stage, and 27 projects have been cancelled due to overlapping with other IRSDA project alignments and are categorised as ‘KIV’ (Keep in View).
“Congratulations to the implementing agencies and the IRSDA Sub-Committee for their efforts in completing IRSDA projects and contributing to positive progress in implementation compared to other Regional Development Agencies,” he said after chairing the first IRSDA Steering Committee Meeting for 2025, held at the Sarawak State Farmers’ Organisation Hall (PPNS) today (April 22).
According to him, to ensure the continuity of development in the Samarahan Division, implementing agencies and IRSDA Sub-Committees are encouraged to start charting their respective directions in preparation for the implementation of the Thirteenth Malaysia Plan (13MP), which will run from 2026 to 2030.
“Implementing agencies are also encouraged to apply for project allocations through the 13MP and not solely rely on IRSDA funds, considering that 83 per cent, or RM1.245 billion, of IRSDA’s existing allocation has already been committed to completed and ongoing projects,” he explained.
Abdul Karim also urged that all projects still in the planning stage be implemented as soon as possible to ensure their benefits are fully felt by the local community.
“Implementing agencies and other IRSDA Sub-Committees are requested to expedite the implementation process of projects that are still in the planning stage and have yet to commence, so that the benefits of development can be promptly enjoyed by the entire community in the Samarahan Division,” he said.
