DEBAK: A total of 473 development projects are progressing smoothly across Betong Division, strengthening infrastructure coverage, and supporting development in the area.

Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas said 130 projects had been completed, 68 were currently under implementation according to schedule, and another 258 are still in the planning stage.

“These projects are progressing smoothly,” he said during the ‘Majlis Pemimpin Bersama Rakyat’ programme in Debak today.

Highlighting improvements already achieved in the division, he said development had strengthened basic infrastructure coverage across rural areas.

“We already have roads, electricity coverage is almost complete, water supply is nearly complete, there are bridges, clinics and agricultural support,” he said.

Uggah noted that Betong was among nine regional development agency areas set up by the state government to accelerate implementation of development projects based on local priorities.

He added that ongoing infrastructure and agriculture initiatives would support plans to position Betong as a modern production centre for food.

Uggah also proposed that the upcoming CENTEXS Betong campus introduce aircraft and drone pilot training, saying the Bebuling airport would be suitable to support such programmes and help develop a new skills-based industry in the division.
