SIBU: A total of 48 local contractors took part in the Integrity Outreach Programme held at the Public Works Department (JKR) Sibu Division on Wednesday.

The programme was jointly organised by the Integrity Branch of JKR Sarawak and the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC).

JKR Senior Principal Assistant Director (Integrity), Wong Siu Ping, said the programme aimed to raise awareness among contractors about the provisions under the MACC Act 2009, particularly on misconduct, corruption and lawful procurement procedures.

He added that the initiative also encouraged good governance, transparency and integrity among service providers and suppliers, in line with the government’s efforts to establish a corruption-free procurement ecosystem.

The event also featured a special talk by Senior Prevention Officer, Rosli Sharif, from MACC, titled ‘Common Offences under the MACC Act 2009 and Corruption in Procurement’.

The programme is expected to strengthen cooperation between the public and private sectors in creating a transparent and integrity-driven procurement environment.
