

MUKAH: A man from Johor succumbed to his injuries after he was involved in a road accident that happened at KM68 Jalan Mukah/Selangau, near here.
In the incident that happened at 11.30pm on Wednesday night the 51-year-old deceased, Yap Peng Hwa, died on the spot.
According to Mukah District Police chief, DSP Jimmy ak Panyau, the victim was travelling in a 4WD vehicle driven by another man during the fatal incident.
“It happened at about 11.30pm when the 4WD vehicle he was travelling on knocked the rear of a lorry. Yap who hailed from 8 Jalan Maju, Taman Kekwa Bukit Siput Segamat, Johore and was the passenger was stuck in the vehicle and died on the spot,” he said.
He added that the 33-year-old driver of the hilux known as Sii Toh Soon sustained minor hand injuries, while the lorry driver, Jeffery ak Langit,31, escaped unhurt in that fatal accident.
During the incident, he added, the lorry heading to Mukah from Selangau was at the roadside waiting for its turn to transfer the palm oil fruits to a plantation.
The frontier part of the 4WD vehicle was badly damaged due to the crushing impact.
Jimmy disclosed that the remains of Yap was sent to Mukah District Hospital for post mortem and the case is being investigated under section 41(1) Land Transport Act 1987.
