KUCHING: Sarawak Tourism Board (STB) expects about 5 million visitors to the state in 2019 with the launch of Visit Sarawak Campaign (VSC) in January next year.

Through this visit campaign, STB intends to bring Sarawak to the world and the world to Sarawak, said its chief executive officer Sharzede Datuk Salleh Askor.

“Our visitor arrivals’ goal for the year 2019 has been set at 5 million and in pursuit of this goal we know that visibility on Sarawak is the key.

“The use of the image, together with the colourful Visit Sarawak Campaign 2019 logo, is important element in promoting Sarawak as a tourist destination full of wonders, excitement, adventure and many others that the state can offer,” said Sharzede in her speech when attending the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signing ceremony between STB and Ludani Service Sendirian Berhad for the VSC that will be commencing in January next year.

Shazede also noted that STB is pleased to secure a working partnership with Laduni Services and also AirAsia in ensuring that the branding of Sarawak is seen far and wide on the aircrafts operating in the region.

STB looks forward to seeing this vision realised physically on the sides of these aircrafts and intrigue the aircrafts’ passengers to discover more about Sarawak, she said.

“We are excited and look forward to showcasing Sarawak’s uniqueness to the world, and as a Sarawakian, I truly believe that visitors will be amazed that we still maintain the products’ authenticity with modern comfort,” said Shazede.

The CEO also revealed that three other AirAsia aircrafts, apart from the main one (three AirAsia Malaysia and one AirAsia Thailand), will also be adorned with the visual images depicting Sarawak’s culture, nature, festivals and many others.
