500 expected at National Multimedia and Content Creators Conference

SIBU: The Persatuan Pengamal Digital Multimedia Sibu (PPDMS) is set to host a two-day National Multimedia and Content Creators Conference here from Aug 23.

Its president, John Tiong said 350 to 500 participants from across Malaysia, including content creators, brand representatives, educators and students are expected to convene to explore the future of content, platform strategies, and creative monetisation.

Speaking at a press conference at a hotel here Tuesday (July 8), he stressed that the conference is not just an educational platform but a comprehensive opportunity for industry networking, talent development and technological showcasing.

“We believe that, through collective effort, this event will bring tangible insights and opportunities to local creators, young talents, and the creative content industry at large,” Tiong added.

Meanwhile, organising chairman, Clement Tiong said the event is organised with strong support from the Sarawak Multimedia Authority (SMA), Business Events Sarawak, Sibu Digital Innovation Hub and Kolej Laila Taib.

“Our goal is to bring together creators from across the country, whether you’ re a YouTuber, photographer, video editor, educator, marketer or student – so that you can connect , collaborate, and be inspired by one another.

“We also aim to equip creators with knowledge of the latest tools and trends in the industry, including AI-generated content, creator ecosystems, and various monetisation strategies,” he said.

The event will feature a number of experienced and influential speakers, including several from the education sector, he said, adding topics will include AI-assisted content creation, personal branding and IP building, monetisation strategies, storytelling techniques, and develping a sustainable creative workflow.

To encourage more creators to showcase their work, he said PPDMS is also launching the “Essence of Sarawak” Video Content competition, inviting creators nationwide to produce videos inspired by Sarawak’s culture.

He said all shortlisted videos will be screened during the conference, and winners will be announced and awarded on-site.

According to him, the prizes are RM5,000 for grand winner, RM2,500 for second, RM1,000 for third and three consolation prizes of RM500 each. Submission closes on Aug 16.
