PANTU: A total of 500 recipients in Balai Ringin have received assistance from the state Social Welfare Department (JKM) as of July 2025.
Deputy Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts Minister Datuk Snowdan Lawan said the aid covered several categories including Senior Citizens Aid, State General Aid, Children’s Aid, Aid for Disabled Persons Unable to Work, Disabled Workers Allowance, and Bedridden Chronic Patient Care Aid.
“I commend Sarawak JKM for their efforts, which are in line with the Post Covid-19 Development Strategy (PCDS) 2030 to ensure no one is left behind,” he said when officiating the Santuni Komuniti Outreach Programme (POSKOM) at Dewan Sri Pantu here recently.
At the event, the Balai Ringin assemblyman also announced several proposed developments for this district, including the construction of a mini fire station, upgrading of the existing clinic, and building of a new Pantu District Office.
On the programme, Deputy Women, Childhood and Community Wellbeing Development Minister Datuk Mohammad Razi Sitam said POSKOM is a signature JKM programme implemented across all 12 divisions in Sarawak, with Pantu chosen as the Sri Aman Division-level venue.
He said the initiative strengthens ties between the government and the community by providing accessible information, a platform for inquiries, and channels for public feedback to drive continuous improvements.
The programme featured various activities, including an ‘Info Santai’ session covering talks on “The Role of Parents and Children in Addressing Current Social Issues”, JKM service briefings, health talks by the Ministry of Health (MoH), briefings from the National Registration Department (NRD), and safety talks by the Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba).
