KOTA SAMARAHAN: A total of 54 foreign nationals were detained during an integrated immigration enforcement operation conducted around the district from the night of Feb 23 until early Feb 24.
The operation was carried out by the Kuching Immigration Enforcement Division following public information and prior intelligence.
A team of 26 immigration officers took part in the operation, targeting several identified locations.
Among the premises raided were rental units around Aiman Mall Commercial Centre, Bandar Riyal Commercial Centre, Uni Garden Commercial Centre, rental rooms in Taman Riveria and several houses in Kampung Sindang.
Premises suspected of operating online gambling activities under the guise of food outlets were also inspected.
All individuals detained are believed to have committed various offences under the Immigration Act 1959/63 and have been taken to the detention depot for further investigation and action.
