PADAWAN: A total of 54 Prisoners Released on Licence (OBB) in Sarawak has been granted conditional release under the MADANI Release of Prisoners on Licence (PBSL) programme, subject to strict supervision and compliance requirements.
TVS reported that of the total, 30 were from Puncak Borneo Prison, where the licence handover ceremony was held on Friday.
Puncak Borneo Prison Director, Assistant Commissioner of Prisons Mohd Hamdhan Mat Noh. said all selected inmates underwent thorough screening, risk assessment and monitoring before being approved to complete the remainder of their sentences outside prison.
He stressed that those released remain bound by licence conditions and will continue to be monitored by parole officers, the police and relevant agencies.
“We hope those classified as OBB will cooperate fully with the authorities, their families and employers to ensure they remain on the right path and contribute positively to society,” he said.
Hamdhan added that rehabilitation efforts do not end at the prison gate, but require sustained support and accountability within the community.
The statewide total of 54 OBB involved inmates from Sri Aman Central Prison, Sibu Central Prison, Bintulu Correctional Centre, Miri Central Prison and Puncak Borneo Prison.
