SIBU: A total of 544 commercial and private vehicles were inspected during ‘Ops Gempur Teknikal Bil. 2/2026’ carried out by the Road Transport Department (RTD) along Jalan Tuanku Abdul Rahman here on Thursday (Feb 5).

The operations uncovered various offences, including drivers without valid vocational licences, absence of valid driving licences, expired road tax, lack of insurance coverage and other technical-related violations.

The department said the enforcement exercise targeted both commercial and private vehicles to ensure compliance with road transport laws and safety requirements.

Sarawak RTD Director, Norizan Jili, was present during the operations, together with Sibu branch head, Jelapin Entalai, and Stapang Enforcement Station head, Langie Nyareng, to oversee its implementation.

RTD said enforcement operations would continue from time to time to improve compliance and enhance road safety.
