KUALA LUMPUR: A strong earthquake measuring 6.4 on the Richter scale struck the Samoa Islands region at 7:37 am today.
The Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) said the quake occurred at a depth of 302 kilometres and was located at 14.7° South and 175.8° West, approximately 714 kilometres northeast of Laucala, Fiji.
According to its initial assessment, there is no tsunami threat to Malaysia. – BERNAMA
