KUCHING: Sarawak Business Federation (SBF) is targeting some 600 industry players to participate in the ‘Business Engagement Session with the Chief Minister of Sarawak” on Oct 8 at the Borneo Convention Centre Kuching (BCCK).

Its president Datuk Abang Abdul Karim Tun Openg said the event is the culmination of a series of dialogue sessions organised by the Sarawak Chamber of Commerce & Industry (SCCI) previously held in Sibu, Bintulu and Miri.

“SBF welcomes participation from the business community in this event to jointly address and discuss matters which affect them and the development of Sarawak.

“With the theme ‘Journey to 2030’, this forum aims to gather and engage the business community in Sarawak in the same platform to discuss the transformation that will steer Sarawak into 2030,” he told a press conference yesterday.

The session will be moderated by SBF’s deputy president Datuk Dr Philip Ting while the speakers include University of Malaya Faculty of Economics and Administration Prof Dr Fatimah Kari talking on (Socio-economic transformation of Sarawak towards 2030 and its challenges); State Legal Counsel Datuk Sri Fong Joo Chung on (MA63 and what it means to the community).

“The Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg will present his keynote address during the event,” said Abang Karim.
