KUCHING: A total of 620 pilgrims from the Southern zone of Sarawak participated in the Prime Hajj Course 2023 organized by Tabung Haji (TH).

The course, which was organized in stages throughout Sarawak from April 19 to May 14, aimed to prepare prospective pilgrims in terms of knowledge and spirituality before their departure for the Holy Land.

Regional Director of Sabah and Sarawak Datin Nurlaila Said said the course covered a wide range of topics, including the history and significance of Hajj, the rituals and procedures involved, and the dos and don’ts for pilgrims.

She also said that the course included practical activities that would help the pilgrims to better understand the Hajj rituals and to prepare for the challenges of the pilgrimage.

“We hope that this course will help the pilgrims to have a meaningful and fulfilling Hajj experience,” she said during her opening remark of the course held at Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (UNIMAS) yesterday.

Sarawak Islamic Council deputy chairman Professor Datuk Dr. Mohamad Kadim Bin Suaidi advised the pilgrims to take care of their health and safety during the pilgrimage.

“The weather in Makkah and Medina can be very hot, so it is important to stay hydrated and to wear loose-fitting clothing,” he said.
