KUCHING: A total of 63 sacrificial cattle are being distributed throughout the Petra Jaya parliamentary constituency in conjunction with Hari Raya Aidiladha, with the programme expected to be completed by tomorrow (May 30).
Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Amar Fadillah Yusof said the annual initiative is carried out through gotong-royong efforts involving mosques, surau and Village Security and Development Committees (JKKKs) across the constituency.
Speaking after officiating at a qurban meat distribution programme at Surau Darul Ehsan in Kampung Sinjan today (May 29), he said the initiative aims to strengthen community ties, assist those in need and nurture the spirit of sacrifice.
At a separate programme held at Masjid Darul Hasanah in Taman Sourabaya Indah, 200 vouchers were distributed to recipients from the surrounding community.
The programme involved the donation of one sacrificial cattle, with the meat distributed to eligible beneficiaries in conjunction with the Hari Raya Aidiladha celebration.
“The objective is to strengthen ties among the community, assist those in need and cultivate the spirit of sacrifice in our daily lives,” he said.
Fadillah, who is also Petra Jaya MP, said the practice of qurban embodies the values demonstrated by Prophet Ibrahim and Prophet Ismail, serving as an important lesson on faith, commitment and selflessness.
“This is the spirit of qurban that we want to nurture. Success cannot be achieved without sacrifice,” he said.
He also added that the annual initiative remains an important platform for strengthening community bonds and promoting social well-being among residents in Petra Jaya constituency.
