KUCHING: Sixty-four individuals were detained by the Sarawak Immigration Department during a two-day operation on May 20 and 21.

The operation, under Ops Sapu and Ops Belanja, involved 30 enforcement officers and covered eight locations around the city.

“Of those arrested, 55 were men and nine were women, all suspected of committing various immigration offences.

“These include failure to produce valid travel documents, overstaying, and misuse of social visit passes,” said the department said in statement today.

The department reminded the public not to hire or harbour undocumented foreigners as it is against the law.
