7,000 visitors expected at event this weekend

MIRI: Pustaka Negeri Sarawak here and Tabung Ekonomi Gagasan Anak Bumiputera Sarawak (Tegas) will organise a Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) playground this weekend (Aug 3 and 4).

The programme is supported by the Sarawak government through Tegas, Ministry of Education Malaysia, Sarawak Multimedia Authority (SMA), Institution of Electrical and Electronic Engineers (IEEE) of Curtin University Malaysia, Chumbaka, Petrosains and many more. This year’s theme Discover, Create, Innovate’ is aimed at cultivating interest in STEM among students as young as five years old.

The programme also aims to rope in 7,000 visitors. It will be held at the library’s premises, Miri City Fan and at Dewan Suarah Miri with the official launching on August 3 at Pustaka Miri’s Auditorium by Education, Science and Technological Research Minister, Datuk Seri Michael Manyin Jawong.

Other events to look forward to are the 3D printing, Mbot challenge, Sparkol video workshop, Mobile Apps workshop, Coding class (real fun learning), 3D doodler pen, Pustaka membership drive and many more.
These events will start from 9am until 5pm.

Parents and teachers are encouraged to bring their children or pupils aged five to 12 to take part in the various activities.
