SIBU: A total of 72 commercial and private vehicles were inspected during the ‘Overload Ops’ carried out by the Operations Unit and Falcon Team of the Road Transport Department (RTD) Sibu along Jalan Pan Borneo and Jalan Paradom Lanang here recently.
A thorough inspection of the vehicles in question found that various offences had been committed, including carrying loads exceeding the permitted limit, poorly maintained vehicles and modifications to the vehicle structure and equipment without the approval of the authorities.
Also detected were several other offences involving the technical aspects of the vehicles.
“Such operations will be continued from time to time as a measure to ensure that all vehicles on the road comply with the provisions of the law, especially on vehicle safety aspect and safeguard the safety of road users as a whole,” RTD Sarawak said in a statement.
