SIBU: About 750 people participated in the ‘722 Run for Sarawak’ organised by the Youth Wing of Sarawak United People’s Party (SUPP) Pelawan Branch held at the Sibu Town Square Phase 2 car park here yesterday morning.
The event was held to celebrate Sarawak Day which fell yesterday.
It was divided into three categories namely Men’s Open, Women’s Open and Family.
The significance of ‘22nd July’ was further emphasised in the event where the running distance for the Men and Women’s categories was 7.22kms, while the Family category route was only 722 metres.
The Family category was open to children aged 12 and below, accompanied by one parent.
The top three winners of the the Men and Women’s categories each received RM722, RM500 and RM300, respectively, whereas the fourth, fifth and sixth places received RM100 each.
In the Family Category, the first six teams which reached the finish line received a hamper each.
All race finishers each received a medal.
The event was made merrier with the hold of lucky draws.
