SARIKEI: A total of 801 students from 10 schools here benefitted from an initiative providing school uniforms and shoes to help ease the financial burden on families.

The schools involved were SJK(C) Ming Tak, SK Rentap, SJK(C) Bulat, Ming Lik Secondary School, SK Penghulu Andin, SJK(C) Su Dok, SK Assun, SK Sungai Paoh, SMK Sungai Paoh, and SMK Sarikei Baru.

The assistance was distributed by the Repok State Constituency Service Centre team recently through visits to several schools, ensuring that students could begin the school session in a more comfortable and confident manner.

Deputy Minister of Plantation and Commodities, Datuk Seri Huang Tiong Sii, who is also Sarikei Member of Parliament, said the initiative reflected concern for the welfare of the people, especially in ensuring better access to education for students.

According to him, education is an important foundation in shaping the future, therefore no student should be left behind or feel inferior simply because they lack school necessities.

“It is hoped that this assistance will encourage students to continue striving for excellence,” he said.

The Repok asemblyman also reaffirmed his ongoing commitment to strengthening the education sector so that fair and equal learning opportunities can be enjoyed by all levels of society regardless of background.
