KUCHING: Young athletes from the Kuching Taekwondo and Self-Defence Club (WTF) are set to compete at the PTNS-SSC-MSNS State Interclub Taekwondo Championship 2025 in Mukah.
A 90-member delegation comprising athletes, coaches and officials departed for Mukah today, accompanied by supportive parents and guardians.
The team will compete at Dewan Tertutup Sukan SSC throughout the championship, which gathers top taekwondo clubs from across Sarawak.
The club, in a statement today, said that the contingent, led by coaches, Eimran Ghaffary Mohamad Daud and Virtlam Umpau, along with several assistant coaches, will feature athletes from across the state competing in various categories, with Kuching’s young taekwondo talents determined to showcase their skills and sportsmanship.
Among the athletes are junior competitors as young as nine years old, who have shown remarkable discipline and enthusiasm in preparation for the event.
The team recently completed a focused and intensive training programme at the club’s Petra Jaya gym to enhance their physical conditioning and tactical readiness.
“Our athletes have trained with great commitment and spirit. We are confident they will give their utmost effort to achieve success and uphold the club’s proud reputation,” said coach-in-charge, Tan Cheng Qiang, in the same statement.
The Kuching Taekwondo and Self-Defence Club (WTF) also expressed appreciation to all coaches, parents and supporters for their continuous encouragement.
The club looks forward to a strong showing from its athletes and wishes them the best in their pursuit of excellence at the state championship.
