KUCHING: A total of 98 athletes from Yayasan Sarawak will compete in the 15th edition of the Pesta Sukan Antara Yayasan Negeri Se-Malaysia (PESAYA), which will be held in Kelantan starting July 10.
The flag handover ceremony for the Yayasan Sarawak contingent was officiated by State Secretary and Yayasan Sarawak deputy chairman Datuk Amar Mohamad Abu Bakar Marzuki.
The Sarawak flag was handed to Yayasan Sarawak director Datuk Mohamad Junaidi Mohidin, before being passed to the contingent chief Zamahari Saidi.
Abu Bakar noted that PESAYA is an important platform for fostering sportsmanship as well as strengthening relationships among state agencies across Malaysia.

“PESAYA helps to strengthen our ties with other foundations, especially among the younger generation.
“We still maintain relationships with one another to this day, not just formally, but personally as well,” he said during the ceremony held at Sarawak Golf Club, Petra Jaya, here on Wednesday (July 2).
He also reminded the contingent not to treat the event solely as a pursuit of victory but as a platform to build team spirit and a harmonious work culture.
He urged the athletes to uphold the good name of Yayasan Sarawak and the state throughout the event.
“Play with full sportsmanship. Carry the good name of Yayasan Sarawak and the state.
“Show your commitment and spirit so that we are respected and held in high regard by our peers from other states.”
A total of 11 types of sports will be contested during the event, including futsal, badminton, tenpin bowling, netball, volleyball, darts, e-sports, carrom, petanque, table tennis, and golf.
Besides Kelantan as the host, the event will also be participated by contingents from Sabah, Johor, Terengganu, Selangor, Pahang, Negeri Sembilan, Perak, Kedah, and Perlis.
