MIRI: A local man was arrested by police for running amok and trying to attack his 70-year-old father at their house yesterday.
The incident took place in Kampung Lusut here at around 7.30am when the man in his 40s suddenly ran amok and tried to attack his father with a rattan after learning that the latter wanted to send his (suspect’s) son to school.
“This is not the first time such incident has occurred and the suspect had threatened to kill his own son previously,” sources said, adding that the suspect’s father lodged a police report on the incident.
The suspect was detained by a CID team from Miri Central Police Station in the afternoon on the same day. The case was being investigated under Section 506 of the Penal Code for criminal intimidation.
