MIRI: Three people were reportedly trapped inside a mangled vehicle following a two-car collision yesterday morning at KM37 along the Miri Coastal Road.

Miri Fire and Rescue Department chief Supt Law Poh Kiong said that a team of firemen rushed to the scene after receiving a distress call at 7.46am.

The collision involved a Perodua Kancil and a four-wheel drive (4WD) and six victims.

According to Law, three victims were reportedly trapped in the Perodua Kancil while the other two victims managed to get out from the vehicle with the help of passers-by. The 65-year-old 4WD driver escaped unharmed.

All the injured victims, most of whom were in the Perodua Kancil, were taken to Miri Hospital for treatment.

The actual cause of collision is still under investigation. However, prior to the collision, there was a heavy downpour since midnight.
