KUCHING: Sarawak United People’s Party (SUPP) rebuts the claim by United People’s Party (UPP) to field two candidates for the parliamentary seats of Lanang and Bandar Sibu under Barisan National.
This is because UPP is not a BN component party.
The leaders of the five branches of SUPP Sibu said that BN had been tricked once by Dato Sri Wong Soon Koh when he resigned from UPP and promised to join a BN component parties in order to contest as a BN candidate during last year State election. Soon Koh has to stop confusing the people and at the same time to honour his promise he made before the state election last year, said a SUPP press statement yesterday.
UPP is not a BN component party. It has no standing in BN and in no position to use the name or be associated with BN, yesterday’s press statement pointed out.
Bandar Sibu and Lanang parliamentary constituencies are made up of three and two state constituencies respectively. In order for BN to win back these seats it has to work as a team especially with all the BN component parties in these areas.
SUPP Sibu works with all the BN component parties. It will continue to consult with them and work as one. For example, In Bandar Sibu parliamentary seat, which consists of Nangka, Pelawan and Bawang Assan state constituencies, the only state assemblyman from BN component parties is Dr Annuar Rapaee. SUPP Sibu pledges to work and consult him on matters concerning Sibu.
Lastly, they emphasise that Sibu needs trustworthy and loyal leaders that can work as a team with BN.
