KUCHING: The move to provide three extra quarantine centres for Covid-19 cases in Sarawak illustrates that the state government is serious in combating the disease, said University Malaya (UM) epidemiologist Datuk Professor Dr Awang Bulgiba Awang Mahmud.

“It looks like the state government is taking extra steps to deal with this situation,” he told New Sarawak Tribune when contacted yesterday.

He, however, warns the pandemic will not end very soon.

Validating his claim, he mentioned that based on his observation of the current trend, the number for quarantine cases in the state will continue to rise in next two months.

He, therefore, suggested setting up more quarantine centres.

“Perhaps the state government should project the number of quarantine places required for the next 2 months,” he said.
