Two vagabonds rounded up in integrated operation

SRI AMAN: Two vagabonds were ‘rescued’ by Sri Aman Social Welfare Department (SWD) personnel in an integrated operation here last Friday night.

A spokesman of SWD said the operation codenamed ‘Operasi Menyelamat Orang Papa dan Gelandangan’ was carried out at four locations around the town centre.

“During the operation we found two individuals, believed to be mentally ill, at Pasar Tamu Sri Aman and Srijaya Resettlement Scheme. We have handed them over to their families,” the spokesman said.

Among the government agencies that took part in the operation from 8.30pm until 11.00pm were Immigration Department, Civil Defence Force, Prison and Health Department, Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM), Sarawak Islamic Religious Department (Jais), MDSA, National Anti-Drug Agency (AADK) and District office.
