KUCHING: The search and rescue (SAR) operation for Mohamed Ekhwan Mohamed who was reported missing at Loba Rambungan river, Kampung Trombol Telaga Air Matang, was called a halt on Monday.
According to the State Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) operation centre, the decision was made after consultation with the victim’s family to stop the operation.
The search was called off at 4pm on Monday and will resume after new clues are found.
It was reported that the 64-year-old went out to catch shrimps on April 13 around 3pm.
When the victim did not return home, his brother lodged a police report at 11.30am the next day.
The equipment used for catching shrimps was found at the scene, but there was no sign of the victim.
