MIRI: Parti Se-Malaysia (PAS) Sarawak lauded the Sarawak Islamic Council’s (MIS) ruling that allows solat Jumaat or Friday prayer in Mosques or Suraus in the state starting next week.
“Alhamdulliah, the decision is just the beginning of positive things … as long as the conditional movement control order (CMCO) standard operating procedure (SOP) is followed to ensure everyone’s safety,” said Parti Islam Se-Malaysia (PAS) Sarawak deputy commissioner Mukhtar Suhaili.
Mukhtar also reminded Muslims to continue to adhere to the CMCO SOP while performing the Friday prayer next week.
“Despite the decrease in Covid-19 cases in the state in the past few days, the public must avoid complacency,” he said.
In an announcement yesterday, MIS president Datuk Misnu Taha said that solat Jumaat would be allowed starting May 22.
However, the number of congregants would be limited to a maximum of 12 men, Misnu said.
