MIRI: More than 100 residents of Rh Long Aton were left with only the clothes on their back after their 28-door longhouse at Sungai Tinjar in Baram, Marudi was destroyed in a fire last Wednesday night.
It was understood that the incident occurred around 9.00pm.
According to the state Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba), a team of firefighters were mobilised to the scene following a distress call at 11.50pm.
The firefighters, however, took about six hours to reach the scene as the area was only accessible via river transportation and logging trails.
Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) Zone 6 chief, Law Poh Kiong when contacted said no injuries and human casualties were reported and the estimated losses and cause of the fire were still under investigation.
