SRI AMAN: Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK) Melugu near here has been allocated a sum of RM50,000 for the year 2018, it was announced yesterday, plus another RM5,000 to be given to the school’s Parents-Teachers Association (PIBG).

This good news came from Deputy Home Minister Dato Masir Kujat when speaking to officiate at the school’s Parents-Teachers Consultative Day.

In his speech Masir also said the problem of drugs abuse could disrupt the government’s efforts in producing highly regarded human capital.

He pointed out in the effort to modernise society, it is necessary for parents to maximise the levels of their children’s achievement, especially pertaining to formal education and skills.

Parents should not take lightly on formal education and skills because these two items are influential contributors to the formation of high quality first class human resources in the very near future.

“Don’t let your children just stop their schooling upon reaching Form Five but get them to continue studying to a higher level at tertiary institutions or go for skills training that would enable them to obtain various skills that in the future might be able to contribute to nation building.

“Malaysia is now going towards the developed nation status. As such, please don’t let your children be left behind in the country’s development,” he urged.

“Schools are the most ideal venues where we can check on the spread of drugs abuse in view of the possibility of giving an early exposure and awareness of the danger of drugs from an early age.

“So all of us parents should start acting right now in our efforts to check on the spread of these drugs abuse that could hinder nation-building efforts in the future.

Also present was Masir’s Senior Private Secretary Whelton Lumpoi, SK Melugu Headmaster Louis Aom, councillors and staff of Sri Aman District Council, community leaders and parents.
