SERIAN: Forty-two areas gazetted as Bumiputera Communal Reserve (agriculture) under Section 6 of the Sarawak Land Code have been handed over to 40 villages around Serian and Tebedu.
Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan who officiated at the ceremony recently also presented 202 land titles under Section 18 of the Land Code to 160 Native Customary Rights (NCR) landowners in Kampung Petag.
With such clear ownership and demarcation documents, no one could dispute the ownership of the NCR land, said Awang Tengah.
He reminded the recipients to take care of their land and use it wisely so that it could be passed on to their next generation.
NCR land surveying is an ongoing effort by the Sarawak government which is committed to recognising the people’s right to land.

Dominic Ginai, Koran Empaneg, village head
“With this Bumiputera Communal Reserve (Agriculture), we can now know the boundaries with other villages. This new initiative will help the villagers in their agricultural activities.”

Langgong Nangot, Sangai Mawang, village head
“I am very happy because our village has been gazetted as Bumiputera Communal Reserve (Agriculture). I hope it will encourage the villagers to survey their NCR land in order to get the land titles.”
