No immediate proposal to build fly-over in Sibu

KUCHING: Although there is no immediate proposal to build a fly-over in the Central Business District (CBD) area in Sibu, the Public Works Department (JKR) has identified seven congested areas or junctions around Sibu Town to be improved.

This was revealed by Assistant Mini s ter of Transpor tat ion, Datuk Dr Jerip Susil whe n responding to a quest ion by Bukit Assek assemblywoman, Irene Mary Chang Oi Ling at the State Legislative Assembly sitting here, yesterday.

“Traffic study will be undertaken and the results shall be used to formulate traffic improvement plans for the congested areas together with preparation of the preliminary costing for the proposed improvement works.

“Some of the recommendations to improve and alleviate the traffic congestion problems at these locations may be considered for implementation in the upcoming 12th Malaysia Plan,” Dr Jerip said.
