KANOWIT: An army veteran died on the spot after his bike collided head-on with a four-wheel drive (4WD) vehicle at KM18, Jalan Kanowit-Durin last Friday (Sept 24).

Francis Among Bundak, 42, from Mukah, was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics from Kanowit Hospital.

Sarawak Traffic Police chief Supt Alexson Naga Chabu, who confirmed the case, said the accident occurred around 4.50pm while Francis was moving towards Jalan Durin.

“Investigations found that his out-of-control motorcycle went entered the opposite lane and collided with the 4WD vehicle which was going to Machan.

“The 64-year-old driver tried to avoid the bike by swerving to the left but it was too sudden, too late and too short a distance,” he told.

Alexson noted that the 4WD vehicle driver was not injured and his vehicle was detained at Kanowit police headquarters for further investigation.

The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
