SIBU: A two-storey terraced house living room at Lorong Salim 21B/2 here was 30 per cent destroyed by a fire on yesterday (Oct 24).
Sibu Fire and Rescue chief Suna Kaha, in a statement yesterday said that firemen from Sibu Central Fire Station were deployed to the scene after receiving a call at 6.30 pm.
“Upon their arrival, the operation commander made a size up and reported that the fire involved the living room of the terraced house.
“The fire was extinguished by the neighbour using an ABC-type fire extinguisher and tap water.
“The living room measuring 20 feet by 60 feet was 30 per cent destroyed. Once the situation was completely safe, the firemen returned to the station,” he said.
No injuries were reported during the incident and the cause of the fire is still under investigation.
