SIBU: Sibu Municipal councillors are urged to work together in making sure that Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) candidates win in the 15th general election (GE15).
Council chairman Clarence Ting Ing Horh said only by having GPS candidates for both the Lanang and Sibu parliamentary seats could they fight for federal funding.
“You all (SMC committee) know how hard it is for us to get allocations and implement projects under the federal government. Thus, we need to have MPs from GPS.
“So, we need to support the candidates from GPS that will be nominated this Nov 5,” he said during a full council meeting today.
Ting also noted that if GPS candidates for Lanang and Sibu are elected, they could help to source for funds from the rural development and work ministries. “Funds are needed for the council to upgrade the drains and roads in town.”
