Handbag snatcher caught in citizen’s arrest

MIRI: A handbag thief was caught red-handed yesterday nearby a shopping complex at Jalan Boulevard here.

The citizen’s arrest was made after the 24-year-old suspect snatched a handbag from a woman victim around 3.30pm nearby the area.

Prior to the incident, the victim was walking around the area, when suddenly a motorcycle came from behind and the unknown rider snatched her handbag.

Following the incident, the victim sustained bodily injuries as she was being dragged and kicked by the suspect.

Her hair was reportedly tangled and stuck on the motorcycle chains.

Alert members of the public including Residents’ Committee of Pujut (RC Pujut) rushed to the scene and managed to catch the suspect and handed him over to the police.
