SARATOK: People need to manage their finances wisely, says Kalaka assemblyman Mohamad Duri.
He said 2023 in the Kalaka constituency kicked off with the Money Proficient Community Programme (Komaw), aimed to provide exposure to financial literacy.
“This is for the benefit of folk in Saratok, especially in helping to raise awareness about financial literacy.
“Therefore, I call on all parties to continue to strive to increase the knowledge of financial management so that we become smarter and are not easily deceived by fraud syndicates.”
Mohamad said this when officiating the programme at Sri Krian Community Hall.
He also expressed his delight with the five main objectives of the programme.
“First, establishing good cooperation between Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM) and other agencies, including the involvement of local residents.
“Secondly, provide exposure to financial basics and savings basics such as the National Education Savings Scheme (SSPN) and the products of the National Higher Education Fund Corporation (PTPTN).
“Third, share about the support service programme for smallholders in Saratok, and to the youths about religious knowledge in financial literacy in addition to focusing on helping reduce the poverty rate.”
The two-day programme, which was attended by about 1,000 people, was enlivened with futsal competitions, religious talks, aerobics and a forum.
