KUCHING: Police had arrested a total of 280 individuals, seized 74 handphones/tablets and RM52,889 after they conducted 224 operations in districts against all forms of gambling activities in the state, disclosed Sarawak CID chief SAC Denis Leong yesterday.
He said 165 operations were conducted against illegal 4D activity, 54 operations were conducted against online gaming, three operations were conducted against gambling in public, one operation was conducted against gambling in common gaming house and one operation was conducted against illegal betting activity.
The operations were conducted in Kuching, Padawan, Sibu, Miri, Bintulu, Kota Samarahan, Bau, Betong, Limbang, Maradong, Kanowit, Marudi, Julau, Serian, Sarikei, Kapit, Mukah, Saratok, Sri Aman, Lundu, Lawas, Dalat and Song.
Police are now working together with Sarawak Energy Berhad to disconnect electricity supply to premises where illegal gambling activities are detected.
