MIRI: Lions Club of Batu Niah today (Wednesday) donated daily use items to Bekenu and Batu Niah community-based rehabilitation centres (PPDK).

The contributions were sponsored by Lions Clubs International of District 308 A2 Region 6 chairperson Dato Winnie Lee Siew Ping.

President Lions Club of Batu Niah Andy Jong Wan Joon said PPDK Bekenu was established on August 28, 2018, and currently has 13 trainees.

PPDK Bekenu’s previous location was in Kampung Dagang, Sibuti and after experiencing flooding problems, it has moved to a new location at Jalan Bekenu.

Meanwhile, PPDK Batu Niah was formed in April 2016, with a total of 20 trainees.

Its chairman Low Mei Ping thanked the community members who were willing to help, which allowed the centre to operate as usual and provide better services.

Meanwhile, Winnie Lee said the programme was held to reach out to children with special needs, especially in rural areas.
